Automatic generation of fasteners in SolidWorks
A program that creates the 3D models of an industrial company's screws, nuts and washers on its own, from the catalogue dimensions.
PythonSolidWorks
- 7DIN standard families
- 44parts generated and verified
An industrial company’s fasteners (screws, nuts and washers) had been modelled wrongly in the CAD and had to be redone.
Instead of modelling each part by hand, I wrote a Python program that drives SolidWorks: it takes the dimensions from the supplier’s catalogue, generates each part according to its DIN standard, assigns material and properties and exports it. Someone from engineering validates one part of each standard and the program generates the rest.
Built with Python and the SolidWorks API.
